Retention and Graduation Rates for Undergraduates
Retention and graduation rates are calculated for students in the new freshmen cohort and for sub-groups of the new freshmen cohort. Tabulations include retention rates for to the second, third, and fourth year, and graduation rates after four, five, and six years. Retention and graduation rates are tabulated using the same format as for the retention/graduation rates presented in the Data Digest.
For the fall 2006 entrance cohort of UW-Madison new freshmen, over 93% returned to enroll in the fall of 2007. For the fall 2001 entrance cohort, over 80% graduated within 6 years or less.

Enhanced retention and graduation rates - The "retained-anywhere" and "graduated anywhere" rates can be calculated by making use of enrollment and degree records submitted to the National Student Clearinghouse. The December 2007 tabulations follow:
