Academic Program Review

REQUEST FOR 2009 ANNUAL REPORTS FROM SCHOOLS and COLLEGES

Program Review Process Overview (Flowchart)

Types of program review, including specialized accreditation

UAPC Program Review Policies, including Policy on Low-Enrollment Programs

In Spring 2008, the UAPC requested that attention to the Wisconsin Experience be integrated into program review in the schools and colleges. Over the 2008-09 academic year, the UAPC will review the program review guidelines and integrate this framework into the guidelines.

Annually, the Office of the Provost requests that deans provide an update on program review activity in their school/college. Policy requires that all programs are reviewed at least once in a ten year period. This request for information reminds deans about the program review policy and process, and hightlights programs that have not been reviewed in ten years and low-enrollment programs. (view the 2008 request to the deans)
Responses from the deans are entered into a program review data base for tracking (see reports below), and compiled into an annual report to UW System Administration, which is required annually. Information that is used in the annual report on this topic to the Board of Regents. (view the 2008 report to System Admin)
An annual report is also made to the UAPC, which focuses on any issues that are evident from the reports and notes programs that have not been reviewed in ten years and low-enrollment programs. This report includes a sub-set of information reported to UW System Admin. (view the 2008 report to the UAPC)
