Explanatory Notes for Department Planning Profiles
May 4, 2001

Row numbers:  the first digit of each row number designates the semester (1 is used for fall, 2 is used for spring); the rest of the digits in the row numbers are identical from semester to semester, with the second digit designating the topic of each section.  For example, undergraduate credits are shown in row 1301 for semester 1, row 2301 for semester 2.  The explanations shown below refer to semester 1 row numbers; however, they correspond to data for both semesters.

Section 1700  Degrees Granted – All Fiscal Year
Source: Retention Awards dataviews

Notes:  Degrees are tallied once annually on an all fiscal year basis (includes degrees conferred in the Summer, Fall, and Spring semesters).  Degrees are counted as FTE degree majors, such that each graduating student contributes an FTE of 1 (one) per degree awarded per semester.  The summer term precedes the fall term of the Fiscal Year to which it belongs.

Most major programs are associated with a single department in a single school/college.  However, some majors are associated with multiple schools/colleges.  The numbers shown on the rows referencing "campus" include all degrees conferred within the major in all schools and colleges.
